Red Mesa Pit
RECLAMATION PLAN
The reclamation for the Red Mesa Pit will be contiguous with mining to the extent
possible and implement standard industry practices. Prior to mining the pit will be
cleared of topsoil and overburden material. Clearing will only be done to the extent
required for mining the material currently needed. These materials will be stockpiled
separately and will be implemented in the reclamation of the pit.
As mining of the pit progresses overburden will be placed in the excavated area as
allowable. This will create a large work area for future processing and stockpiling areas.
During the life of the mine reclamation will take place to the extent possible where
deposits/reserves are depleted.
Final reclamation can be completed upon the aggregate deposit being exhausted and
stockpiles of product being removed. The site itself will be graded smooth using the
previously conserved overburden to shape the slopes and fill excavated areas. Once the
grading is completed the topsoil will be evenly distributed over the entire area then
seeded with a native seed mix.
