III. COMMENTS - COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a complete inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This mine is in permanent cessation and
reclamation of most areas is complete. Ground conditions on this day were very dry as has
been the case most of the winter. The weather on this day was cold , clear, and extremely
windy.
Availability of Records
The public copy of the mine records is kept at the Energy Fuels Coal Company office in
Florence. Specific detail regarding the records inspection can be found on page 2a of this
report. All records were found in compliance.
Hydrologic Balance
Four ponds exist under this permit; two at the coal loadout and two ant the main mine facility
area. All ponds were dry and appeared in good condition. Significant capacity for water and
sediment exist in all ponds. Snow or rain would be welcomed at this site.
Revegetation
Cattle were not observed on the reclaimed area or in adjacent areas near the mine site.
Transplanted shrubs are becoming clearly visible as they grow in size.
3
