Division Director
Grand Junction, CO 81506 Natural Resource Trustee
RE: Blue Ribbon Mine, Permit No. C-81-047, Minrec, Inc.
2008 Annual Hydrology Report, Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Stover:
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) has finished its review of
the 2008 Annual Hydrology Report (AHR) for the Blue Ribbon Mine, submitted by Minrec, Inc.
The Division has general comments but no adequacy review questions concerning this report.
The hydrologic data presented in the 2008 AHR support the prediction in the probable hydrologic
consequences section of the permit application that mining activities would not adversely affect
the hydrologic regime. No impact to the water quality of Hubbard Creek can be observed. The
piezometer data continue to reflect seasonal variations while the overall yearly water levels trend
towards an increase from the previous dry years. All three underdrains have resumed flow, unlike
in previous years that were dry.
During the year, there were no discharges from the two sediment ponds. The sediment ponds
were eventually reclaimed near the end of 2008. The pvc pipes associated with the three
underdrains were cut off at ground level and covered with rocks.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
9
`Joseph J.
