i

i

EXHIBIT H
Wildlife
STRONG FARM #2
The area is near to other commercial developments of similar
nature along the Poudre River. Since gravel mining has been going on
for greater than 20 years, the wildlife at present consists of small
rodents and birds native to the area which have become aclimatized to
the operation. Ducks and geese are seasonally present on water surfaces
in the area consistent with migratory habits.
Food and cover is present on adjacent lands and along the Poudre
River, so that for the type of wildlife inhabiting the area continuous
food and cover are assured.
After the gravel is exhausted and the area is reclaimed, the area
will contain about 90 acres of pond area, which will become a waterfowl
habitat. The nearness to irrigated farmlands which can provide food for
waterfowl in fall and winter is a valuable asset.
During the mining operation, some wildlife support such as availa-
bility of feed.. forage and shelter may be lost but will be returned
after reclamation has been completed. The distribution and percentages
of habitat types in the area will be different than at present but the
approximate relationships will remain the same. Final reclamation will
provide slopes, shoreline and brushy lowlands as before which will
provide essentially equal or greater levels of carrying capacity than
prior conditions. The area has been disturbed for years, therefore the
wildlife impacts will be rather insignificant; moreover, this impact
will be limited and of temporary nature but will improve in the long run
due to reclamation of the total area after mining.
