Water is available from the ponds and a relatively high water
table for irrigation and will be applied if necessary to
insure revegetation. Fertilizer will be applied as necessary.
Favorable brush species which infiltrate from natural down-
wind seeding will be allowed to remain.
b. No portion of this area will be reclaimed as forest land.
C. No portion of this area will be reclaimed as range land.
d. Environmental factors have been considered in the plan for the
1 chosen plan of reclamation. Exhibit K contains the climatological
data which was considered. Soil texture and capability
information is contained in Exhibit I. Slope stability will
1 be established by compacting during the backfilling and leveling
operation. Further stability will be provided by the vegetation
as it becomes established. Grazing is not anticipated since
it is not a part of the end land use.
e. All proper methods and techniques normal to site preparation
and protection for agriculture will be followed in order to
' establish vegetation in accordance with the reclamation plan.
f. Where necessary weed control will be accomplished by mechanical
means.
g. Fire lanes are not considered to be necessary.
' h. Final reclamation of the plant site and haul roads will be
delayed until the mining has been completed. At that time,
the same general cover, leveling and planting procedures will
be implemented as was used in the rest of the area.
i. No adverse characteristics of the surface are expected which
would seriously inhibit plant growth.
(e) - Revegetation of each area will follow redistribution of the growth
medium. The grasses planned for revegetation are common to the area and
are generally in good supply. A more detailed discussion of topsoiling
and revegetation appear in the preceeding section on Performance Standards.
Transfer will preclude the need for stockpiling and vegetative stabilization.
Additionally this method requires that the growth medium only be handled
once and preserves the natural seed and micro-organism content.
