2.0 - Site Description and Map
The affected area is located in the N/2 of Section 18, T12S, R74W, on a 66.80
acre site - DRM&S Permit # M-1984-101 TR2. This SWMP is for mining and
process activities at the site. A previously mined Phase 1 area on the east side of the
permit area is at a topographic low and all site stormwaters can and will be directed
and contained at this location if not contained in active excavation areas of the mine
site. (Map attached). All site stormwaters are contained within the permit area in the
excavated areas or ultimately at the southeast sedimentation area.
Depending on local needs and market conditions, mining and processing for road
base, fill material and asphalt pavement may take from 10 to 15 years or longer.
Aggregate processing (screening and crushing), temporally permitted asphalt
production (via Park County CUP for life of mine area) and material stockpiling
operations may be temporally located at the site from time to time. Portable mobile
process equipment for crushing, screening and concrete/ asphalt production (Park
County CUP for life of mine) will be mobilized as necessary and will have all
necessary construction and air permits for such equipment.
All disturbed areas will be eventually be reclaimed to rangeland. Annual
reclamation is planned for mined and stockpile areas depending on available space
and time of season. No wet-lands, or other water resources will be affected by the site
activities. All stormwater will be contained under the site SWMP and general
Stormwater Permit to the excavated areas. Ditching, silt fencing, berms, bales and
other site stormwater BMP's will be used as part of site stormwater controls.
Aggregate materials will be removed via dragline or excavator. Topsoil is
temporally stockpiled around perimeter of the area for use in the planned reclamation
and for any 3:1 bank slopes. Any and all topsoil found within the site will be
stockpiled as described above for use in site reclamation. Disturbance will be minimal
to the adjacent remaining pasture areas out-side the excavation areas until mine
activities move to those areas. The planned site reclamation will provide additional
wildlife habitat within the S. Platte River Basin corridor
