conditions and anticipated average production, plus allowances for post-mining slurry
construction.
The proposed expanded mining operation will consist of conventional dry mining of
surficial sand and gravel, using the existing plant processing, freshwater and
sedimentation pond areas to the north. Incidental placer gold will continue to be
extracted at the plant as an incidental mining by product.
Mining will include the following elements performed generally in the order listed.
Some activities (e.g., initial stripping and mining) will occur concurrently at times:
• Fencing improvements and new fence construction;
• Installation of three new ground water monitoring wells along Brighton Road to
measure ground water levels at the site perimeter in the upgradient direction.
• Topsoil and overburden stripping and stockpiling;
• Visual barrier berm construction along Brighton Road
• McCann Ditch relocation
• Field conveyor and temporary roadway layout and setup/construction;
• Initial mining and perimeter dewatering trench excavation:
• Excavation/transfer of pit-run material to field hoppers
• Conveying and processing (processing at existing Bromley Lakes Pit plant)
• Reclamation grading and planting.
• Slurry wall construction.
Initial work will consist of improvements such as perimeter fencing and monitoring
well installation along Brighton Road. New fencing will tie into existing fencing and
consist of normal industrial security chain link fencing (2-in. mesh with 9-guage wire), or
equivalent, with three strand barb wire at the top to restrict public access and create a safe
work site. Monitoring wells will consist of nominal 2-in. PVC slotted standpipe
observations wells to supplement existing monitoring wells as described further in
Exhibit G - Water Information, below.
Next, topsoil and overburden stripping and stockpiling, Phase 12 mining, and
dewatering trench excavation will occur. Some topsoil berms will be concentrated along
the 50 ft geotechnical set back along Brighton Road along the east edge of the southern
boundary adjacent to the road to mitigate the visual impacts of mining.
