Appendix A - Vegetation Sampling for Phase !!! Bond Release
• Reclaimed Area exceeds the 90 percent standard when compared with the Rangeland Reference Area.
Tables A-14, A-15, A-16, A-17, A-19, A-20, A-21, A-22 display the calculated density estimates for
each sampling unit.
Species Diversity - 2005
•
•
The species diversity standard for the Rangeland Reclaimed Areas, as stated in the permit, is the
establishment of two cool-season grasses, two warm-season grasses, and one perennial forb, each with a
relative cover value between 5 and 60 percent. The permit also stipulates that there is no species diversity
standard for the AVF Reclaimed Area.
The species diversity standard on the Rangeland Reclaimed Areas was achieved during the 2005 sampling
event. The three cool-season grasses that satisfy the permit standard (with corresponding relative cover
values) are: smooth brome (17.21 percent), western wheatgrass (14.75 percent), and slender wheatgrass
(6.97 percent). The warm-season grasses standard is met by blue grama (6.15 percent) and sideoats grama
(5.33 percent). The perennial forb standard is satisfied by alfalfa (5.74 percent). Table A-23 summarizes
the most abundant species sampled in the Rangeland Reclaimed Area during the 2005 sampling event.
TABLE A-23 . The permit also stipulates that there is no species diversity
standard for the AVF Reclaimed Area.
The species diversity standard on the Rangeland Reclaimed Areas was achieved during the 2006 sampling
event. The three cool-season grasses that satisfy the permit standard (with corresponding relative cover
values) are: smooth brome (28.44 percent), western wheatgrass (14.68 percent), and slender wheatgrass
(10.09 percent). The warm-season grasses standard is met by blue grama (7.34 percent) and little
bluestem (5.50 percent). The perennial forb standard is satisfied by alfalfa (9.17 percent). Table A-24
summarizes the most abundant species sampled in the Rangeland Reclaimed Area during the 2006
sampling event.
2215_Go1dmiEag1e_PH3B0ND 20063-10-08.doc A-13
