Eagle Park Reservoir <br /> Final Analytical Summary <br /> October 29, 1997 <br /> • Surface Water <br /> In the Division inspection report for the Climax Mine inspection of May 19, 1997, the Division <br /> requested an addendum to the pending Environmental Protection Plan to describe the existing <br /> surface seep collection facility located at the toe of Robinson Lake Reservoir. At the time CIVIC <br /> submitted TR-07, the Environmental Protection Plan (August 11, 1997) other Environmental <br /> Protection Facilities existed downstream of the surface seep collection system. Because <br /> conversion of Eagle Park reservoir to developed water resources has moved the process area <br /> up-valley the following description of the operation and configuration of the Robinson surface <br /> seep collection is offered for inclusion into the Environmental Protection Plan: <br /> Two 30 horsepower high head Flyght pumps operate to control the water levels in <br /> the Middle Pond (see attached diagram). The capability of each pump is rated at <br /> 570 gallons per minute and each one is therefore capable of independently <br /> delivering the entire seepage.volume (base flow —40 gpm) to Robinson Reservoir. <br /> The pumps are plumbed independently in 4 inch piping (one HDPE, the other steel)+ <br /> to return water to Robinson Reservoir. Pump shut-down results in water draining <br /> back to the pond and potential ruptures of the pipe are contained within the <br /> pumpback system. Water levels in the pond are set between a high and low level <br /> probe system with an effective elevation difference of 8 inches. The water pool is <br /> therefore maintained to limit large differences in elevation during all seasons. <br /> Checks are made of the system by the Water Equipment and Tailings (WET) Crew <br /> at the Climax Mine on a regular basis. The small dam on the downstream side of <br /> • the Middle Pond was increased in height and the culvert through this dam has been <br /> was removed. The ponds are not lined, yet water in the surface seeps that reports <br /> to groundwater is backed up by the Robinson Seep Cut-off Wall positioned <br /> downgradient. <br />
