Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />Re: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-1981-010) <br />Permit Revision Application No. 6 (PR-6) <br />Proposed Trapper Mine Plan for 5 Year Permit Term 2008-2012 <br />Dear Ms. Maiolo: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on February 9, 2009, an application to revise coal <br />mining operations at the Trapper Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment <br />periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Trapper has provided updated mine plan for the 5-year permit term, 2008-2012. This plan includes East Ashmore, <br />Flintlock, East Ashmore, (Z), Gatling, and the new Kimber Pits. Ash disposal will continue in the Ash disposal pit. <br />Two fills are proposed, Horses fill and Buttress fill. An additional 312 acres of new disturbance is proposed within <br />the current permit area. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 6 miles Southwest of Craig, Colorado. The <br />permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 1, 2, and 3, Township 5 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 30 and 31, Township 6th North, Range 90 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 25, 26, 28, 33, 34, 35, and 36, Township 6 North, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Castor Gulch. <br />The DMG requests written verification regarding Federal mining leases and/or federal surface access <br />approval. Applican t has referenced the Federal mining lease(s) and/or Federal Surface access agreement(s) <br />C-07519, C-079641 in this application as a document upon which they base their legal right to enter. Please <br />verify that the lease(s) and/or agreement(s) has/have been issued and that final BLM/federal agency <br />lease/agreement approval has been granted. If the lease/agreement application is pending, please notify <br />DMG as to the status of the lease/agreement review and when a decision is anticipated.
