III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was an aerial inspection of the Munger Canyon Mine conducted by Harry Ranney of the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety(DRMS). Aerial photographs were taken on
February 19, 2009 at approximately 4:05 p.m. Seven photographs were taken during the flyover.
Mike Boulay of the DRMS reviewed the aerial photographs.
Weather conditions appeared to be clear and sunny at the time of the flight. The portal bench
access road and backfilled portal areas are visible in the photographs The waste disposal area and
sediment pond were not visible in the photographs. There is no activity discernible in the
photographs.
The majority of the mine site was snow covered. The access road to the mine site was mostly
snow covered. The mine bench area appears stable. The reclaimed hill slope and riprap channels
along the length of the formal portal access road appeared to be in very good condition with no
evidence of slides or other damage. A portion of the reclaimed portal bench and access road is
shown in the attached photos.
All site locations appeared stable and no significant erosion or other problems were identified
with this aerial inspection.
