Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
This office received the Notice you submitted, as captioned above, and find that it contains all the pertinent
information required for approving the new vent hole locations. As you recall, the Amendment AM-2 that was
approved in 2007 specifically allowed these vent holes, at tentative locations that were subject to being changed
to different, final locations. The type and amount of such disturbances were reviewed, approved and included in
the bond. The actual changes of the vent hole locations were subject only to providing Notice to the Division,
without the need to revise the permit or the bond amount.
Since all parameters regarding the vent holes meet the requirements from Amendment AM-2, this office
"approves" Denison to proceed with the construction of the vent holes.
Please be reminded that all disturbances associated with the vent holes must eventually be reclaimed according
to the approved reclamation plan.
Thank you for providing the Notice to this office, in conformance with Amendment AM-2. I look forward to
inspecting these sites during my inspections this year. If you have any questions, I may be reached at the
Division's Durango field office: 691 County Road 233, Room A-2, Durango, CO 81301; telephone 970-247
5193.
Sincerely,
V/ ? ??4
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
Ec: Steve Shuey, DRMS
Cc: Helen Mary Johnson, BLM, 15 Burnett Ct., Durango, CO 81301
(c:\09-02 docs\Sunday amt vent hole reloc/rco)
SS4
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
