This monitoring is conducted by physically surveying each pond each year. This schedule provides a sediment yield history and gives advanced warning to operations personnel when sediment clean out work is needed. Also, in accordance with Rule 4.05.6(11)(c), SCC visually inspects each pond, at a minimum, quarterly each year. During these inspections, any drastic change in sediment storage/sudden increase in a sediment delta at the inlet of the pond would be detected and mitigation implemented, if necessary. The results of the 2008 annual survey indicated that all ponds are within the minimum requirement for storage and are shown on Table 08.5, Sediment Pond Capacities. STOCK TANKS Stock tank T25 was completed in 2008. WILDLIFE MONITORING SCC contracted Jones and Stokes to conduct wildlife surveys and monitoring at the Seneca II-W mine area. The work included: 1. Monitoring of Columbian sharp-tailed grouse leks and checking for new ones (April 28, 2008) 2. Checking golden eagle nests for activity (April 28, 2008) • Methodologies, data and results of the big game aerial survey, eagle nest activity, and sharp-tailed grouse activity are presented in the attached 2008 Wildlife Monitoring Report. 4
