• YOAST MINE <br />2008 ANNUAL RECLAMATION REPORT <br />2008 DISTURBANCE AREA <br />There were no additional acres disturbed during 2008. The total disturbed area remains 848.6 acres. <br />BACKFILLING AND GRADING <br />No backfilling occurred in 2008 at the Yoast mine. <br />TOPSOIL AND SPOIL MONITORING <br />SCC is required by Permit C-94-082 to monitor the salvage, storage, and redistribution of topsoil and <br />spoil handling operations at Yoast Mine. <br />0 Topsoil Recovery Documentation <br />No additional topsoil was salvaged since no new disturbance occurred. <br />• 2008 Topsoil Replacement Thickness <br />No topsoil replacement was conducted during 2008. <br />. • Soil Pit - Topsoil Fertility and Spoil Suitability <br />No additional soil pit or spoil samples were collected within the Permanent Program permit area in <br />2008. <br />• Topsoil Balance <br />The topsoil balance is completed to ensure topsoil is salvaged, stockpiled, and replaced as <br />recommended and approved in the permit, and, if necessary, to readjust the topsoil salvage and <br />redistribution thickness. <br />Topsoil Salvage and Storage. The life-of-mine disturbance area from which topsoil was salvaged <br />(848.6 acres) and the topsoil stockpile sites as of December 31, 2008 are shown on the 2008 Topsoil <br />Replacement map. During 2008, there was no additional topsoil salvaged. The stockpile volumes are <br />listed in Table 08.1, Topsoil Stockpile Volumes. As of December 31, 2008, there were 70.5 acre-feet <br />of stockpiled topsoil remaining in the mining area. <br />Topsoil Replacement. There was no additional topsoil replaced in 2008. <br />Topsoil Replacement Thickness. The topsoil balance as of December 31, 2008 for the remaining <br />life-of-mine is calculated as follows: <br />Mine Area <br />Total disturbance area = 848.6 acres <br />• Permanent Facilities & Topsoil replaced = 818.5 acres <br />Disturbance area requiring soil = 30.1 acres <br />Soil in stockpiles (Table 08.1) = 70.5 acre-feet <br />Mean replacement depth available = 2.3 feet (28.1 inches) <br />1
