r
Burrowing owls are more tolerant of human activity than many other species of raptors. They do, however,
require a buffer from human disturbance during their nesting period. We recommend that, if ground disturbing
activities are planned to take place during the nesting season, the site be surveyed for burrowing owls, and that no
human disturbance take place within 75 yards of owl nest sites from April 1 through July 31.
We recommend that the site be reclaimed by returning it back into short grass prairie. The site's wildlife value
may be restored if the reclamation site is replanted to buffalo-grass and blue grama.
We appreciate being given the opportunity to comment. Please feel free to contact the Lamar Service Center
(719-336-6600) or District Wildlife Manager Jonathan Reitz (719-980-0025) should you have any questions or
require additional information.
Sincerely, -Z ;Z gz?
Travis Black
Area Wildlife Manager
Colorado Division of Wildlife
2500 South Main
Lamar, CO 81052
(719) 336-6600
