Furthermore, Schmidt has agreed to modify the actual location of the proposed <br />300 acres to preserve continuity of the Piedmont grassland by eliminating the potential of <br />bifurcating the Piedmont grassland. The selection of areas to be mined will leave <br />corridors between mining areas I U and 2U as depicted on maps provided to Arapahoe <br />County by Schmidt and a bridge of unmined land approximating 53 acres in what is <br />shown as Area I L. Specific terms that identify the mining areas and the areas to be <br />protected are set forth in the attached Letter Agreement dated June 20, 2008. This Letter <br />Agreement modifies the Operations Plan. previously approved by the Board. <br />The Board believes that this is a good solution to preserving the Piedmont <br />grassland and it follows the conservation pmpective envisioned during the concept stage <br />of the project. The Board supports this amendment as agreed to above and respectfully <br />requests that Arapahoe County grant the USR permit to Schmidt. <br />Since <br />even D.
