Park County Road and Bridge Department
P.O. Box 147
Fairplay, Colorado 80440
(719) 836-4277- (719) 836-4275 FAX
February 17, 2009
6.4.3 We have a tuff shed that has all of our safety equipment and record keeping. The grass
in the new effected area is Western wheatgrass and Foxtail rye grass. The topsoil will be
removed and placed in a berm on the outside boundaries of the new effected area. The inside
edge of the new effected area will be sloped at a 3:1.
Water source is at Ansley pit # 1 was approved contact with Applegate.
6.4.4 Park County plans on preparing (grubbing) the new affected in May of 2009. The
grubbing will be done with a dozer. The first area of work will be the 1.56 acres. Time line for
total area will probably be 5 years and then bottom of pit use for storage.
i The first phase will work through the summer of 2009 and spring of 2010.First
the materials will be pushed in a pile with dozer. A loader then runs the material through a
grizzle and loads trucks for road repair. The remainder then gets stock piled for future use.
The other 3.8 acres would be worked the same way.
In the new affected area Park County will remove and spot 8" of topsoil. The mined
depth of new area would be approximately 12 '. The materials consist of round river rock of
various size, fines and clay. The nature of the stratum is solid.
g Bi-products of screened material is: a) pit run and: b) surface type mixture, all
to be used on our county roads.
h The pit run is for large fills in the roadways and the surface material would be
used to reshape the roadways.
equipment.
There would be no explosives used. The material can be mined by heavy
6.4.5 Reclamation plan would be to use the topsoil that was stockpiled and place this soil on
the 3:1 slopes. If more were needed to accomplish a 6"-8" cover then we would truck it in. The
seeding designed by US Dept of Agriculture, Crested wheat grass, Blue Grama, Russian
wildrye, Western wheatgrass and Yellow Sweet Clover. Requiring approximately 160 pounds
of designed seed. Fertilizer recommendation would be 40 pounds of nitrogen and 40 pounds
of phosphate per acre. The total acreage affected is going to be 15.2. The Ansley pit #2 won't
be reclaimed until totally mined. Park County would still be under Applegate's water contract
for the future.
6.4.7 Park County is not expected to affect the ground water in Ansley Pit #2. Park County is
under contract with Applegate and that effects Ansley Pit # 1. There would be no effect on
Ansley # 1 Because of separation and Ansley Pit #2 is on the down slope side.
