Each is mined by a
different operator under this single permit. This pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary Cessation and it
HAS operated more than 180 days this year. The approved bond amount is $84,200 covering 75.74 acres t,
and the facility has seven mining and reclamation phases. Please refer to the attached 2008-2009 Annual
Report Map for the areas discussed in this text. Bestway Concrete is not the gravel miner at this mine having
taken over for Hall-Irwin in January 2009
We will deal specifically with the Annual Report requirements as outlined in Rule 1.15 of the Rules
and Regulations and those noted in the annual letter.
(1) Clay - We continued to mine deeper on the land previously disturbed north of the ditches in Stage Il
(blue). Approximately 25.21 acres is disturbed by the clay operation in Stages O, I and II. This
included the old clay mined area south of the ditches shown as the Clay Plant Site area (purple).
Gravel - A total of 12.75 acres is being used as plant site area in Stage A (orange). Approximately
3.46 acres of Pre-Law Overburden areas was processed this year. These areas were graded and are
used for storing processed materials. The gravel operation has disturbed 28.42 acres f in the mine
(\\\). Most of the material processed at the plant site came from gravel mined this year on the Rocky
Flats Pit. Some waste rock was removed for use by the mineral owners from the pre-law stockpile
areas,
(2) No reclamation was required this year. Filling continued on the old clay mining area in the green areas
shown in Stage O. No additional reclamation is required until mining for both materials is completed
in any given stage. The Pre-law stockpile areas that were disturbed have been graded so only
recoiling and seeding will be needed when it is time for those activities. Stockpiles of growth medium
are a located along the west and south sides of the permit area.
(3) Clay - Mining will continue in Stage I or Stage Il, no new area will be disturbed this year because we
are mining in the area stripped in previous years. We will continue to deepen the bottom of the mine
into the clay veins exposed in the past and advance the face to the north as approved. Processing will
continue in the Clay Plant Site Area in Stage 0 (purple). We will continue to removed overburden on
