/II. COMMENTS- COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made during
the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the
facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Tom Kaldenbach of DRMS. Jeff Dubert of Blue Mountain
Energy represented the operator. Photographs taken during the inspection are attached to the end of
this report. With the operator's consent, this report was issued from the Denver office of DRMS.
The operator's representative reported that the longwall was active in panel 10 and development work
was in progress in panel 11. Much of the site was free of snow. Unpaved roads were muddy in places
due to warm daytime temperatures.
Proeessimz Waste
No problems were found in the refuse disposal areas. The upper graded surfaces of 2/3/4 and 5 were
not pooling water. Recently placed material on top of Refuse Pile 5 awaits grading out into a lift after
drying out.
Subsidence
Subsidence cracks in sandstone outcrops were photographed next to the county road over panels LWB-
7 and LWB-8 (see photo below). The cracks are a few inches across. No offset was apparent across
the cracks. No cracks were evident in the county road.
-ai
Photo 1 —Subsidence crack.
3
