• Software: A large portion of the software for data collection. processing, analysis and display is
based on the U.S. GeoloLical Survey's Earthworm system (http:/A%-ww.orfeus-
eu.orginewsletter/vol5nol'eartliwomi.html). The software can be confrLured to automatically
detect, process, and analyze routine discrete seismic events and make the results available over
the computer network.
Data Processing: The seismic data is time aligned, arranged into temporary buffers files, and
submitted to a series of data processing software modules. Discrete seismic "events" arc
identified, saved to disk, and sent for further processing (arrival picking, event location,
magnitude estimation. (,round motion characterization, etc).
Data Viewing: lielicorder plots, which show drum-style seismic records through a continuously
updated GIF image file, are accessible via a web interface. (see example in attached "Example
Results from the King Mine Strong-Motion Station") Waveform data satisfying a user-controlled
triggering condition (i.e. events) are saved in separate tiles and can be viewed with a number of
different software utilities. All of the data, in raw or processed frrrm, can be made available
anywhere over a computer network.
U
Sensor vault installation
0
