A few small undeveloped pastures and meadows <br />are also present in the high country. The slopes are too <br />steep to offer any agricultural potential and offer only <br />minimal grazing potential. <br />•- Springs and ponds are common in the permit and adjacent <br />area which enhance the value of the high country for <br />wildlife habitat and historically livestock grazing. <br />No commercially merchantable timber exists near the <br />permit area due to the steep slopes and low elevation <br />although some small stands of aspen do occur within the <br />area. <br />The lower portion of the permit and adjacent area <br />consists of pasturelands, orchards, residential and <br />industrial. The Fire Mountain Canal and Deer Trail Ditch <br />provide important irrigation water to the pasturelands <br />and orchards. The nearby orchards are operated on a for <br />profit basis. The pasturelands are used for livestock <br />grazing and hay production. There are many single family <br />houses nearby.
