(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1998-105
INSPECTION DATE:-02/05/2009.
OBSERVATIONS
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS THM
This inspection was conducted as part of the normal monitoring program established by the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The Delta Paving Gravel Pit is located 4 miles east of Delta, Colorado off of
Highway 65. The site is a 112c operation. Ed Settle of Grand Junction Pipe and Supply Company accompanied the
inspector during the inspection.
The mine identification sign and the affected area boundary markers are in place and in compliance with rule 3.1.12.
The sign is located on a post at the main entrance on the west side of the gravel mine. The permit boundaries are
comprised of fences and markers that are easily identifiable around the entire perimeter of the mine.
The pit is currently active. A front end loader observed working within the permit area. Stockpiles of various
construction materials were observed around the permit area. Some of the slopes within the permit area had been
reclaimed to slopes that appeared to be no steeper than 3H:1 V except where recent mining is to take place. No
evidence of major storm water erosion was observed during the inspection.
Various weeds were observed within the permit boundaries. Tamarisk was observed within the permit area;
Tamarisk is listed as a noxious weed and will hinder the ability of native plant. Per Rule 3.1.10 (6), Methods of
weed control shall be employed for all prohibited noxious weed species, and whenever invasion of a reclaimed area
by other weed species seriously threatens the continued development of the desired vegetation. This is not seen as a
problem due to an active weed management plan. However, this is noted as a tool to monitor progress during future
inspections.
In an effort to ensure the financial warranty remains adequate to reclaim this site per the requirements of the
approved reclamation plan,. DRMS will update the reclamation cost estimate. The estimate will be forwarded to the
operator under separate cover. The last bond calculation was done in 2004.
Photos that show the conditions observed during the inspection are included at the end of this report.
No problems or violations were noted or observed during the February 5, 2009 inspection.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Travis Marshall at the Division of Reclamation, Mining
and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 South 3rd Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, phone
no. 970-623-5596.
I & E Contact Address cc:
NAME: Ed Settle ?
