• 2.05.4(2)(e)
(vii) Soil Testing Plan
Immediately prior to seeding, fertilizer will be applied to enhance root
development in the range seedings. The actual type and amount of fertilizer
applied will be determined by the analysis of random soil samples taken from
the surface one foot of redistributed topsoil material. Known plant nutrient
requirements will be compared to the soil fertility analyses to determine
fertilizer requirements. At a minimum, the soil will be tested for a deficiency of
Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium.
(2)(f) Disposal of Debris. Acid-Forming_and Toxic Formino Materials
There is no indication that any acid-forming or toxic forming materials will be
encountered on site. Refer to Section 2.04.6{a)(iii)(D). Please refer to Section
2.05.3(8) for a discussion of the applicant's plans to handle debris and non-
coal waste.
If sustained combustion of debris or non-coal waste becomes a problem the
applicant will be prepared to react appropriately. Chemical fire extinguishers
will be available in the shop warehouse area and on mobile equipment. A
• water truck will be available to respond to any problem area. Earth moving
equipment may be available to smother a fire if necessary.
(2)(g) Sealing or Managino Mine Openings. Exploration Holes. Other Boreholes or Wells
The mine portals will be sealed in accordance with Map 28, Portal Entry Seals
and Map 30 Portal Entry Water Tight Seals. Vent shafts will be sealed in
accordance with Map 29 Shaft Seals. The exploration and monitoring holes
will be sealed in accordance with the requirements of Rule 4.07.
(2)(g) Drill holes, not completed to aquifers will be sealed by replacing cuttings or other
suitable media in the hole and placing a suitable plug 10 feet below the ground to
support a cement plug or other media approved by the Division to within 3 feet of the
ground surface.
Drill holes completed in non artisan aquifers will be sealed using cement or
other suitable sealant by placing the sealant to extend 20 feet above and below
the water bearing zone. A surface plug will then be placed in accordance with
the above paragraph. The hole will be marked.
Two types of seals will be considered for installation at the Bowie #2 Mine upon
mine abandonment. If mine water in-flows are experienced in the mine, a
water-tight seal will need to be installed to plug the portals and contain
• potentially degrading mine water from flowing from the abandoned portals.
PR-06 2.05 - 57 - 08/01
APPRaVE/~
/~/5/o z
