Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) has finished its review of the Bowie Resources <br />LLC (BRL) submittal of responses to the Division's Adequacy Review (dated 21-Mar-2008) for Technical <br />Revision No. 48 (TR-48) for the Bowie No. 1 Mine. Many of the items described in the Division's review <br />have been satisfactorily addressed. There remain a few comments to Items #6 and #11, included below. <br />1) There is an apparent typographical error in the first sentence of the second paragraph of revised <br />page 63 of the reclamation plan. Distributed should apparently be disturbed. Please correct the <br />error. <br />This error was satisfactorily corrected in BRL's adequacy response dated 30-Apr-2008. <br />2) Appropriate planting window(s) should be specified in the Revegetation Schedule on amended <br />page 68. Language in the first paragraph of the schedule is confusing and lacks specificity. Also, <br />Figure 2.05-5 of the Final Abandonment Appendix, in Volume 6A, presents a schedule for <br />completion of various reclamation tasks in specified areas. Backfilling of the East Mine area is <br />scheduled for 2007, but no time frame is specified for seeding and mulching. There is no entry for <br />revegetation tasks associated with West Mine reclamation. Please amend the narrative on page <br />68 and the Figure 2.05-5 schedule to clam planned revegetation timeframes. <br />The narrative was amended in BRL's adequacy response letter dated 30-Apr-2008. <br />3) The section heading on amended page 68 should apparently be (2) (e) rather than (2) (a). Please <br />amend the section heading as appropriate. <br />The section heading was amended in BRL's adequacy response letter dated 30-Apr-2008. <br />4) On amended page 72, extensive surface roughening is proposed for south and west facing slopes. <br />Due to favorable effects on steep slope seed catchment, micro-sites for seedling establishment, <br />moisture retention, and erosion control, we would recommend use of extensive roughening on all <br />final reclamation surfaces to be broadcast or hydro-seeded.
