RECLAMATION VISUAL INSPECTION FORM
Date: 9/26/2008 Site/Map #: Waterline
Inspected By: Scott Wanstedt
Location: Waterline replaced in 2005
Year Reclaimed: 2005 Seed Mix: Interim & Drill Site Mix
Dominant Vegetation: (include grasses, forbs, shrubs, warm season grasses, etc. by spp.)
See Notes
Erosion/Site Stabilization: Stable
Notes: Grasses are dominated by desert and Siberian wheatgrasses. Western WG and Russian
wildrye are also relatively abundant but not predominating. Also of note is sheep fescue as an
understory grass specie. Bluebunch WG is also present but in minor amounts.
Forbes/half shrubs were essentially nonexistent. Two alfalfa plants were observed.
Shrub establishment is fair to poor. This could be attributed to the extremely dry 2006 summer
following seeding. Seedling vigor may not have been adequate to survive the summer. Dominant
shrubs include fourwing saltbush, shadscale, black greasewood, and rabbitbrush. Big sagebrush
is present but only in minor amounts
Overall, perennial seedling establishment is very good in the upper half of the area. The lower
portion suffers from poor soils, highly competitive weeds, and repeated disturbance by sheep
along an established BLM livestock driveway.
Weed problems include cheatgrass, Russian thistle, and annual kochia.
Recommendations: Continue to monitor.
