January 22, 2009 - Summary letter to the Division of current status and request for deadline clarification
Delays have occurred throughout this process due to report preparation, weather, laboratory turn-around times,
communication with the Division, and ability to access underground mine workings. Denison is completing
multiple Environmental Protection Plans for the mines, and the documents are complex and require a significant
amount of data collection and analytical preparation time.
Denison is confused as to when the 365 day deadline expires; whether it is February 8th, May 9th, or June I Om9
Denison has made a good faith effort to complete this complicated process and has committed resources to
complete the EPP preparation in a timely fashion. Completion of fate and transport modeling is ongoing,
groundwater sampling, while imminent, has not been completed (due to underground mine conditions), and
EPP preparation is still underway. Denison is unclear as to the deadline for submittal of the EPPs and requests
clarification from the Division and the ability to complete these; documents in a time frame that is acceptable to
both parties.
Please feel free to contact me at (303) 389-4136 with any questions or comments.
Yours very truly,
641
DENISON MINES (USA) CORP.
Christy Woodward, P.E.
Environmental Coordinator
Cc: Denison File
Terry Wetz, Philip Buck, David C.
