("Denison") received a determination letter of Designated Mining Operation status <br />for six Colorado Mines on February 8, 2008. The six mines identified as DMO are as follows: <br />• Topaz Mine (Permit MJ1980/055 HR) <br />• St. Jude Mine (Permit M/ 1978/03 9HR) <br />• Carnation Mine (Permit M/1977/416) <br />• Sunday Mine (Permit M/1977/285) <br />• West Sunday Mine (Permit M/1981/021) ??? <br />• Van 4 Mine (Permit M/1997/032) <br />On March 31, 2008, Denison sent a letter to the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the "Division") <br />requesting an extension of the regulatory 180 day time frame to 365 days, during which Denison will collect <br />data to complete the DMO process. In the same letter, Denison described a phased approach to the DMO <br />characterization plans and Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) preparation. Denison received an acceptance <br />letter from the Division on May 9, 2008 approving the 365 day time extension and the phased approach for <br />characterization and EPP preparation. On June 10th, Denison received a letter from the Division stating that <br />there would be new requirements and that all uranium mines in Colorado would be DMOs. <br />To date, Denison has completed and submitted the following: <br />May 28, 2008 - Drainage Report for the Sunday Mines Group sent to the Division <br />August 5th - Waste Rock and Ore Characterization Plan submitted to the Division <br />August 18th -22 d - Collection of waste rock and ore samples from the Sunday Complex and Van 4 mines. <br />September 18th - Groundwater Characterization Data Collection Work Plan sent to the Division <br />September 25th - Received DRMS comments on Groundwater Characterization Plan and approval of Sunday <br />Drainage Report and Waste Rock and Ore Characterization Plan <br />December 10th - Met with the Division in Durango to discuss preliminary results, progress, and schedule <br />December 15 th - 19th - Installation of groundwater monitoring wells in underground mine workings
