INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: -MAC <br />OBSERVATIONS <br />The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. <br />Also present for.the inspection was Jesse Stackhouse and Clint Mehring of Washington County. The Hayes Pit <br />is located approximately: 2 miles northwest of Otis; Colorado. The site is permitted for 9.5 acres. <br />This inspection was conducted as part of the Division's regular monitoring program. The weather conditions at <br />the time. of the inspection were windy and overcast with a light layer of snow on the ground: The permit sign <br />and the boundary markers' were posted in accordance with. Rule 3.1.12. Mining is currently progressing to the <br />south of the pit; no mining was taking place at the time of the inspection and no mining equipment was present. <br />The topsoil is stockpiled along the west permit boundary; the topsoil pile was stable and did not show any signs <br />of erosion. There:were three product stockpiles on the floor of the.pit. It was noted in the last inspection of this <br />site that there was standing water in the pit. There was no water in.the pit during this inspection and there were <br />no signs of erosion from stormwater runoff. <br />Mining has reached its limits in all directions except for the southern area. The east portion of the site:has been <br />graded and covered with topsoil; no seeding has occurred yet.
