(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: nn-1988-032
INSPECTION DATE: 492.4n9 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: MAC-
OBSERVATIONS
The inspection was conducted by Michael Cunningham of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. Also
present for the inspection were Clint Mehring and Jesse Stackhouse of Washington County. The Fassler Gravel
Pit is located approximately 1 mile south and 4 miles west of Akron, Colorado. The site is permitted for 9.9 acres.
This site was inspected as part of the Division's regular monitoring program. The weather conditions at the time
of the inspection were windy and overcast; there was a light layer of snow on the ground. The permit sign and
three of four boundary markers were posted in accordance with Rule 3.1.12. The northwest boundary marker
was missing; please see the last page for corrective actions. There was no mining taking place at the time of
the inspection and no mining equipment was present. Mining at the Fassler Gravel Pit has reached 9.9 acres;
the Operator was advised not to mine further in any direction. Mr. Mehring indicated that Washington County
would like to expand the permit boundary for this site; this can be done by converting the current 1 10c permit
to a 112c. The procedure for converting a permit has been enclosed in this inspection report. Reclamation
activities have not begun at this site.
The Operator has segregated the topsoil and stockpiled it along the southern permit boundary. The topsoil
stockpile has annual weeds growing on it; it appeared stable and did not show any signs of erosion. The pit
highwalls have been graded to 2:1 or less. There is a single product stockpile located near the center of the pit.
The Operator was advised to begin reclamation activities; this would include final grading, replacement of
topsoil, and seeding.
This concluded the inspection.
I & E Contact Address
NAME: Clint Mehring
OPERATOR: Washington County
STREET: 51 West 2nd StrPPt
CITY/STATE/ZIP: Akron (-0,807?0
