Cattany <br />RE: _Summary History of In Situ Leach Uranium Mine Permitting in Colorado Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />File No. M-1977-159, Wyoming Minerals Corp., Grover Test Site, 7.5 acres, located approximately 4 <br />miles southwest of Grover, Weld County, Colorado <br />February 1977: leaching of uraniferous sandstone unit using injection and recovery wells initiated. <br />July 1977: Application for section 110 limited impact permit filed. <br />October 1977: 110 permit issued, $2500 bond. <br />May 1978: Leaching concluded, ground water restoration initiated. <br />February 1979: Ground water restoration completed, monitoring continued through first half of 1980. <br />October 1980: Water Quality Control Commission determines that ground water was restored as required under <br />a subsurface disposal permit granted by the commission in September 1976. <br />1980 and 1981: Facilities demolished, wells plugged, ponds removed, surface reclaimed. <br />September 1983: Division conducts final inspection, releases bond and terminates file. <br />File No. M-1981-045, Union Oil Co., Keota Project, 2000 acres, located at and surrounding town of <br />Keota, Weld County, Colorado <br />March 1981: Application for section 112 permit filed; application states that project is a joint venture of Union <br />Oil and Power Resources Corp., with Union Oil as applicant. <br />May 1981: Mined Land Reclamation Board continues consideration of the application indefinitely. <br />August 1981: Union Oil notifies Division that they have pulled out of venture. <br />June 1982: Power Resources provides status update stating they are investigating joint venture participation and <br />will continue permitting efforts as soon as practical. <br />August 1985: Division inspects site, determines that no mining has occurred, terminates file, and states in report <br />that reactivation would require new permit application.
