Bowie No. 2 Mine
TR-56 Implementation
07 Nov 2008
Please describe the proposed on going piezometric monitoring plan, including the
locations of any new piezometers to be placed, any anticipated modification of existing
piezometers, and the proposed monitoring frequency.
Inclinometers - Three inclinometers were installed in August 2005, and have been
periodically monitored since that time. Data acquired from the instruments indicates no
failure planes have developed, nor does down-slope creep appear to be occurring within
CMWDA2
Please describe the proposed on going monitoring plan for use of inclinometers,
including the locations of any new inclinometers and the proposed monitoring
frequency.
Construction - Section 6.0 of the BGI report includes specific recommendations
regarding placement of coal mine waste in the approved slope configuration of 3H:1 V.
Please detail the proposed methods of placement of coal mine waste, in accordance
with BGI's recommendations.
Analysis of Monitoring Data - BGI's stability evaluation report recommends that
monitoring of CMWDA2 with piezometers and inclinometers be continued. Utilization
of the monitoring data collected was not discussed in the report.
In the upcoming Technical Revision, please describe, as a minimum:
• How the monitoring data collected will be used
• Measurements (of pore pressure or inclination) that might indicate any
potential instability in the CMWDA2 configuration
• Proposed mitigation of any potential or actual stability issues
• How often and by what means data will be reported to the Division
