17) The second paragraph on Page 2 should refer to Attachment "A2" rather than 112". Please
correct this error.
Response: The requested change has been made with this submittal.
18) The last line of Page 2 should refer to Attachment "Al" rather than "1". Please correct this
error.
Response: The requested change has been made with this submittal.
19) The third paragraph of Page 3 should refer to Attachment "A2" rather than "2". Neither
does the paragraph mention sample Pll. Please correct these errors.
Response: The requested change has been made with this submittal.
20) According to the first paragraph on Page 4, the approved 24-inch flume was replaced by a 9-inch
version.
Please provide the Division with design calculations which illustrate that a 9-inch flume is
sufficient to carry the flow expected from dewatering the pond through the 18-inch CMP
that has been installed.
Response: Under the 10 year, 24 hour design storm assumptions for the Section 28 Pond
presented in Volume 13, Exhibit 7, Item 20, (page Exh. 7-20A-34), the resultant
peak flow of 1.79 cfs occurs at a pond stage of 7070.68 feet. A Parshall flume
with a 9 inch throat can measure a flow of about 8.9 cfs under free flow
conditions.
Flow through a 9 inch Parshall flume can be expressed as:
Q=3.07h1.53
with Q in cfs under free flow conditions and h as the measured head in feet.
A 1.79 cfs flow rate would correspond to a head of about 0.70 feet in the Parshall
Flume. Thus, the existing flume is adequate for this application.
21) Attachment AM does not include a data point classifying Sample No. 11P. Please amend
the chart to include 11P.
Response: Sample I IP has been added to the graph presented in Attachment Al.
22) Attachment A2 includes Proctor Test Results for Sample Nos. 5P and 6P, the source of which
was never utilized for the project, but no such data is provided for Sample No. I IP.
Please include the Proctor Test Results for Sample No. 11P in Attachment A2.
Response: Proctor Test Results for Sample No. 11 P have been added to Attachment A2.
23) In Attachment A3, pages -8, -10, -12 and -14, the Depth / Elev column refers to "BTE", but this
term is not defined in the Comments section at the bottom of the page.
