MWCA, Inc.
Date: February 5, 2009
Reference: Permit # M-1977-227
Subject: Mesita Hill Pit Annual Report for 2008
Activities at Mesita Hill in 2008 included completion of the site reclamation.
The site has been contoured, smaller pits filled and larger pits contoured to
allow use for livestock grazing. The available growth material was spread
out as much as possible. Recontouring was also completed outside of the
permit boundary, if possible without disturbing mature vegetation. See
attached photos from November 2008 of reclamation.
Seeding was completed in November 2008. Local native shrub and grass
seeds had been previously collected and stored. The local seeds were
augmented by a purchased grass seed mix. The large flat areas of cinders
which lack a cover of growth media were disked prior to seeding to promote
germination and growth. See attached Bamberg Ecological report dated
December 1, 2008.
The property was surveyed and a new property map was generated dated
June 24, 2008.
MWCA personnel and contractors were onsite during the DRMS inspection on
October 7, 2008. As the inspector noted, there are several Technical
Revisions required in order to revise the reclamation plan. These include a
weed control plan and a final grading plan. The technical revisions will be
completed in 2009. See attached DRMS Inspection Report dated October 7,
2008.
Paul L.
