Water flowing (approx. 1-2 gal/min) /min) from the
adit drains into the existing waste pile, not along a draining to the settling ponds as identified in the POO. Water
sampled at a pool at the adit and in the flow near the waste dump showed a good pH, about 8.1. "Posted- Private
Property" sign still present at portal, which is located on public lands. Damaged BLM barricade showed evidence of
ATV tracks going around and across Henson Creek.
RECOMMENDED CHANGES TO OPERATIONS:
Install secure portal closure to prevent entry from unauthorized personnel. Removal of private property sign from
BLM lands- no concurrence for signing under 43 CFR 3715. Repair damage to BLM wooden barricade that was
damaged by operator or designated agent of the operator. Use only authorized access to the mine site.
Describe any corrective actions that must take place immediately (including onsite instructions to operator):
Adit needs to be securely closed as soon as possible to prevent unauthorized entry.
Attachments: - Inspection maps X Inspection photos i Additional pages ® Other
How much time was spent on this inspection? 2.01n Round trip travel time: 5 hr
Inspector: David Lazorchak Date: 10/18/2008 Position Title: Geologist
Authorized Officer: Kenny McDaniel .
cc: Bob Oswald, Colorado DRMS, 691 CR 233, Suite A-2, Durango CO 81301
