UNITED POWER, INC. <br />CONSTRUCTION STANDARD <br />MINING ACTIVITIES ADJACENT TO ELECTRIC <br />POWER LINES <br />In order to comply with applicable codes and regulations and United Power, Inc. safety <br />and operational requirements, mining activities must maintain a minimum of 10' radial <br />clearance from all overhead and underground electric power lines. <br />No mining excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 10' of any overhead or under- <br />ground electric power line paralleling a public road or highway or other permanent access. <br />Existing grade must be maintained for a minimum of 10' from the electric power line; from <br />that point, a minimum 3:1 slope shall extend to a distance of at least 35' from the top of the <br />excavation. <br />No mining excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 35' of either side of any over- <br />head or underground electric power line with mining activities on both sides of the line. No <br />excavation shall be allowed within a minimum of 20' of the point that any overhead electric <br />power line guy wire anchor rod enters the ground. <br />Continuous all weather access must be provided to and parallel to all electric power lines <br />within the area of excavation. A 70' wide corridor, 35' on either side of the electric power <br />line, shall be maintained to allow access to United Power, Inc. to overhead electric power <br />poles and lines and to underground electric system facilities. <br />The intent of this Policy is to ensure the integrity of the electric power line and provide for <br />all weather access to the line for maintenance. <br />All requests for variance to the Standard shall be subject to review and approval of the <br />United Power, Inc.
