Sherman
Executive Director
MEMORANDUM
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
TO: Kent Gorham Natural Resource Trustee
FROM: Jim Stark c4__
SUBJECT: Southfield 2007 Midterm Review Cost Estimate
DATE: 11 June 2007
Attached is the reclamation cost estimate for the Southfield Mine's 2007 Midterm
Review. The estimate is 22 tasks (a summary sheet and tasks 011-074) and represents a
new liability of $257,031.00. The Midterm estimate is $31,175.00 more than the
previous estimate of $223,856.00, calculated with the Partial Phase I Bond Release SL-
02. The 2007 Midterm Review reclamation was a cost update only.
The Permit System shows a required liability of $366,359.00. This is based on the
amount released in SL-02. Additionally, the Permit System shows the amount of bond
held by the Division is $380,431.00. The amount of bond held was set based on the
Phased Bond Releases and may not be decreased without going through the Bond
Release process. Currently, the Division holds enough bond monies to complete the
remaining reclamation at the Southfield Mine.
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information. I will
be in the office the rest of the week then I will be in the field and on vacation the next
four weeks, returning on 16 July 2007.
cc: Sandy Brown w/out attachments
A)e-55- /o/ow 7
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
