Based on this
evaluation, the following seed mixes are recommended for drilling on these sites. The NRCS
does not recommend seeding of forbs at either site in the initial planting due to concerns with
weed management. It is recommended that the sites be managed for two years following
establishment prior to planting the recommended forb/shrub mix via broadcasting on these sites.
The Western Gravel Site shows the same ecological site (Rolling Loams) and similar soils at
both the Phase One and Phase Two locations. The NRCS recommends the following seed mix
for initial establishment at both of these locations.
NS7__a l-..,...,,1 C;+o Dl-ga c nnp nnrj Twn
VV eSLCiu via V %11
Species .?.?
Variety - - -
PLS/ac
% in Mix
Rate
Irr/Non-Irr (PLS lb/ac)
Western Rosana 16.0/8.0 25 2.0
wheatgrass
Bluebunch Secar 12.0/6.0 25 1.5
wheatgrass
Sandberg Sherman 2.0/1.5 15 0.8
bluegrass
Streambank Sodar or 11.0/5.5 10 0.6
wheatgrass Bannock
Indian Nezpar 8.0-12.0/ 15 0.9
ricegrass
- 4.0-6.0
-]
Bottlebrush -7 -
Wapiti 9.0/4.5 10 0.5
s uirreltail
The Piceance Gravel Site is comprised of two significantly different ecological sites, Foothills
Swale and Salt Meadow.
