The Forth Quarter Discharge
Monitoring Reports were received by the Division on 29 January 2009. The reports cover the time
period from 01 October 2008 through 31 December 2008.
Five NPDES outfalls discharged during the Forth Quarter of 2008. Outfall 011 discharged in response
to precipitation events in October and November. Outfalls 001, 002 and 020 discharged routinely
throughout the quarter. Outfall 021 discharged in response to dewatering operations. Outfalls 011,
020 and 021 were sampled for WET analyses during the quarter. No exceedances of WET test
limitations were observed.
It is noted that primary effluent limitations of TSS were exceeded at outfalls 001 and 020 during
intense fall precipitation events in October and November. The alternate limitations will be applied to
outfalls 001 and020 due to the fall precipitation event. The alternate limitations for Settleable Solids,
applicable in the event of discharged caused be precipitation less than or equal to the 10-year, 24-hour
precipitation event, was met at all outfalls. Based on a Memorandum of Understanding between the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety and the Water Quality Control Division (WQCD), the
WQCD will be responsible for enforcing CDPS permit conditions including exceedances of TSS.
Thank you for the timely submittal.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
