C-81-408 by Western
Fuels-Colorado (WFC) in Nucla, CO.
Dear Sirs:
I am writing this letter as a formal protest to the application for a Technical Revision to the New
Horizon Mine Permit No. C-81-008 Section 2.05.4(2)e. This Technical Revision covers the
change in Success Standards in Irrigated pasture from a standard to a reference area.
All of the property in question should be reclaimed in as good of condition as it was or better
prior to mining. The Morgan property which is a large amount of the land in question should
be returned back to irrigated ALFALFA or CROPLAND. These fields have always been some
of the best alfalfa and corn fields in the country and should be put back as good or better.
To achieve this goal requires the return of good topsoil, irrigation, disking, leveling, rockpicking,
fertilizing, and numerous hours of work that has been put into this place to get it to what it is
today. There should not be shortcuts and leveling and rockpicking is a must . These fields have
always been planted in straight alfalfa and row crops and should be returned as such. These are
not irrigated pasture or grasslands and should not be classified as that. These fields need their
own classification and put back like they are now and was.
Thank you,
