C-2008-086
PAR - MLT
27-Jan-2009
17. Page 2.05-53 of the text (1St paragraph) states that, "As each 50 foot lift is
complete it will be plated with 44.3 inches of subsoil..." This description seems
to be at odds with coal mine waste construction details contained elsewhere in the
permit. Please review the text here, and revise or explain in greater detail.
Volume II - Mans
Map 15 Series
18. Legend
a. Symbol for Light Use Road does not match map
b. Please add the symbol for Access Road
c. Please add the symbol for Conveyor
19. Map 15-6 - Contour line on top of pile incorrectly labeled 5600; should be 5580.
Map 19 Series
20. Map 19-1 Section C-C appears to be facing northward, rather than southward as
indicated by the arrows in plan view. Please reverse the section, or change the
orientation of the arrows.
21. Map 19-2 Section H-H does not give cut slope H:V for the rail spur. Please add
this slope (if Section H-H is perpendicular to the rail spur).
Map 21 Series
22. In Maps 21-A, 21-C, 21-E, 21-F and 21-H Plan View - arrows for cross sections
point the wrong direction. Please reverse the section, or change the orientation
of the arrows.
Volume III - Exhibits
Exhibit 8 - Engineering Geological Evaluation (Vector Enzineering - 13-Nov-2006)
23. Recommendation No. 1) states, "Site-specific engineering designs and rockfall
mitigation measures will be necessary to ensure the safety of both infrastructure
and personnel in mapped rockfall areas. Slope stability studies and, where
appropriate, rockfall stability analyses should be completed for structures
proposed in the rockfall hazard area." No rockfall stability analyses and
mitigation measures have yet been incorporated into the Permit Application
Package. Please address these items, or provide a justification as to why they
should not be required.
