DENISON MINES (USA) CORPORATION
2009 ANNUAL REPORT
Topaz Mine Permit M-1980-055 HR
Operations are currently underway at the Topaz Mine.
An Amendment to a Plan of Operations (POO) was submitted to the San Juan Field Office of the
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on April 6"', 2007 to incorporate operations at the Topaz
Mine with the existing POOs for the Sunday, St. Jude, Carnation (covered under the Sunday
POO), and West Sunday POO. The Environmental Assessment has been through public
comment, and the BLM is currently addressing comments received. Denison hopes to have a
BLM decision and Finding of No Significant Impact in early February to complete the waste rock
area expansion proposed and approved by the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(DRMS) in 2008.
The second of the approved vent holes has been installed at the Topaz Mine for the protection of
miner health and safety; however, no other activities have taken place as the operator is awaiting
BLM approval of the POO Amendment. Updated site maps were provided with the Denison
application to convert the Topaz Permit from a 110 to a 112, and no new mapping is provided
with this annual report.
In 2008, approximately 9,707 tons of ore were produced from the Topaz Mine and shipped to the
White Mesa Mill, near Blanding, Utah. No concurrent reclamation activities have taken place at
the Topaz Mine in 2008; however, routine maintenance of the berm and catchment at the base of
the Waste Rock Area was completed in September of 2008.
A Weed Management Plan consistent with the requirements of San Miguel County and the BLM
was prepared for the Sunday Mines. Noxious weed control was completed using pesticide for
halogen and knapweed. Figure 1 shows a map of the weed infestations encountered and the
pesticide application areas. Pesticides were applied in 2008 on June 1611' and July 8"'.
Exploration drilling will take place concurrent with mine operations at the Topaz Mine, and it is
anticipated that 30 exploration holes will be drilled in the Topaz Mine claims commencing in
February of 2009 and an additional 30 exploration holes will be drilled in Sunday Mine claims
later in the year. All exploration activities will be completed under a statewide prospecting bond
