Cattany <br /> Division Director <br />Re: • New Horizon Mine (Permit No. C-1981-008) Natural Resource Trustee <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 5 (RN-5) <br />Dear Montrose County Commissioners: <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, <br />Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 27, 2007, an application to renew <br />an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at New Horizon Mine was considered complete for the <br />purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act <br />and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. <br />Western Fuels-Colorado, LLC proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land <br />located approximately 1 mile North of Nucla, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 1 and 6, Township 46 North, Range 15 West, New Mexico Prime Meridian; and Portions of <br />Sections 25, 31, and 36, Township 47 North, Range 16 West, New Mexico Prime Meridian <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Nucla. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the Montrose County Clerk and Recorder, <br />161 South Townsend, Montrose, CO 81401.
