• Backfilling = 8,400 yd3 @ $1.40/yd3 $11,760
SPGM Salvage 1,800 yd3 @ $1.40/yd3 $ 2,520
SPGM Replacement (includes topsoil) 2,700 yd3 @ $1.40 yd3 = $3,780
Front-end Loader - Backfil
The front-end loader will be employed for supplemental transport of
backfill material which cannot be readily emplaced by the tractor or the scraper due
to length of haul or attitude of repository areas. Examples of its usage are
distribution of SPGM in confined areas where the scraper cannot spread requisite
thickness of material; deposit of SPGM where the scraper cannot turn around; and to
clean or fill corners which cannot be reached by the blade of the tractor. Due to
intermittent utilization and a large proportion of standby activity, front-end
loader coats are assumed to be a function of tractor time rather than volumetric
output of the unit itself.
• Tractor Time (backfilling)
Portal Bench = 35 hours (6,000 yd3), Access Road 13 hours (4,500 yd3)
48 x $52.46/hour = $2,523 $2,523 = $0.24/yd3
10,500
15-Ton Capacity Truck, Rear Dump
A truck will be required to haul backfill material from [he portal bench
to the truck scale area to backfill the scale pit. Only 100 cubic yards of fill are
required and due to the four mile haul, use of the scraper is impractical. A 15-ton
truck is readily available locally and ie of suitable size for road conditions
between the mine and scale area. Ten round tripe will be necessary, and from an
estimated load factor of 1 yd3 = 1.5 tone; four loaded miles per trip; and at a fee
of $0.15 per ton-mile, the trucking cost would be:
15 tons x 10 trips x $0.15 x 4 miles = $90.00
trip ton-mile
\ 114iv (Rev. 1-13-82)
