Diversions
. Diversion ditches have been installed to route unaf-
fected area run-off around the sediment control system. Ditch
No. 1 along the mine access road picks up water from east and
south of the portals and flows through a small plunge pool prior
to flowing into Hubbard Creek. Ditch 3 above the portals picks
up water east of the portals and flows into the ephemeral draw
north of the mine. Ditch 10 diverts water around the lower
stockpile into Hubbard Creek. These diversions will be
eliminated during final reclamation.
The lower end of the draw north of the portals was
modified with a permanent diversion around the toe of the stabi-
lized mine bench and around the No. 1 Pond. The diversion was
installed in the fall of 1984 as part of the mine bench stabi-
lization project. The ephemeral draw conveys water from north
and east of the portals, from Ditch 3 and from mine discharge
(discharge point 004 of NPDES Permit No. CO-0033553).
During initial reclamation a temporary diversion will
be installed across the top of the back filled portal bench to
divert drainage from Area C around the reclaimed areas. Once
vegetation success is approved this temporary diversion will be
removed and run-off from Areas B and C will be collected in
diversion B+C. Reference to this diversion was initially made in
ADOendix 1-B to the Mine Bench stabilization Technical Revision,
• September 6, 1984. Design calculations for these diversions are
given on pages C-7 and 7, Appendix C.
(5) Topsoil
See 2.05.4
(6) Overburden
See 2.05.4
l0i (ket-ised 3-16-89)
