• Wildlife Information Exhibit H <br />Significant Game Resources on the Affected Lands <br />Mule deer and elk are probably the most critical game resources in this area. The current landscape <br />offers good grass and alfalfa ground cover from irrigation which is useful for deer and other small <br />mammals. <br />Significant Non-Game Resources on the Affected Lands <br />Rabbits and other small mammals such as fox, badger, groundhog, are probably the most critical non- <br />game resource in this area. <br />The wetlands to the north and west are home to frogs and geese and various bird species. <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife, Meeker office has stated that this area of the White River is known <br />• to harbor great blue herons and bald eagles. A great heron rookery is known to exist approximately 1 <br />mile to the east along the river. A bald eagle winter roost exists along the river approximately 2 miles <br />to the west. There are no known bald eagle nests in the permit area or vicinity although some large <br />cottonwood trees exist north of the western edge of the disturbed area. <br />Seasonal Use of Affected Lands <br />No important seasonal use other than winter range for elk and deer in the irrigated pastures. <br />Presence and Estimated Population of Threatened or Endangered species in the area. <br />Bald eagles are known to use cottonwood trees along the River.
