Fall 2008 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
Box Canyon, Apache Rocks, and South of Divide Mining Areas
is
•
J
Figure 13. Sandstone outcrop on east side of West Flatiron showing fractures and rockfall where
cracks, previously noted at Location 4, intercept the rock face. The historically observed crack
trend from Location 4 is generally from the white pickup truck (background) toward the rockfall
(foreground). The sandstone cliff at this location is approximately 40-50 feet thick.
5.5.3 Photographic Observation Point 1
This location is at a single NIMV site above mined Long?vall Panel 20 that is used to observe and
Photograph the slabbing rockfall and landslide area at Location 4. f=igure 14 sho\ s the
rockfall/landslide area west of Location 4 as observed in October 2008. A comparison to Figure
1_5 (fall 2007) shows there to be some nexv slabbing and rockfall activity. It is likely that this
process will continue until equilibrium is established.
831-032.790 Wright Water Engineers, Inc. Page 29
December 2008
