MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: m_9nng_nZA
-
INSPECTION DATE: 9-1 R-2fnng INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: 1I F
OBSERVATIONS
This was a pre-operation inspection for the possible Robinson Sons Gravel
Pit No. 1. The DRMS file number for this site is M-2008-076. The
proposed permit area is located approximately one mile north of the
village of Weston, Colorado in Las Animas County. I, Jared Ebert of the
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety conducted the
inspection. Mr. Joe Gagliano of L J Development, Inc. accompanied me on
the inspection.
The proper public notice sign was posted at the entrance gate from County
Road 31.9. An improved dirt road leads into the mine site and it allows
access for two gas wells located near the site. Using a GPS Unit, and a
map of the site all the permit boundary markers were located and mapped.
The site consists of an open canopy conifer forest. The primary trees and
shrubs found at the site are Pinion, Rocky Mountain juniper, gamble oak,
mountain mahogany and ponderosa pine. Various grasses were observed at
the site as well as forbs.
Overall, the site appears as it is described in the permit application.
The mine site will contain about 78 acres. The site is located on a
relatively gentle slope with a southern aspect. All the man made
structures that were described in the application were accounted for
during the inspection.
Two large water drainages run through the mine site which are delineated
on the attached map. These drainages are not addressed in the permit
application nor are they delineated on the pre-mining and mining plan
maps. In accordance with Rule 3.1.6 disturbances to the privileging
hydrologic balance of both the surface and ground water systems shall be
minimized. This issue will be addressed further in the adequacy review
for the permit application.
2
