III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a Partial Inspection of the Hamilton Mine conducted by Marcia Talvitie of the Colorado
DRMS on 31-Dec-2008 10:45 a.m. The operator was not represented during the inspection. The
weather was clear and cold.
Signs and Markers
The Mine Identification Sign is clearly visible at the turnoff to the mine (Figure 1)
Roads
The ground was covered with a few inches of snow, as were the roads. The road was passable
to Pond A. Access to Pond B and Mine Area 3 was not attempted.
Fish and Wildlife
A section of the barbed wire perimeter fence had been removed from the southwestern corner
of Mine Area 1. Wildlife (deer and possibly elk) tracks were visible in the snow, passing through
the opening in the fence (Figure 2). Numerous other tracks were observed throughout the area,
including rabbit and possibly coyote.
This concludes the December 2008 inspection report for the Hamilton Mine.
Hamilton Mine C-1991-078 31-Dec-2008
