MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1977-.59A
INSPECTION DATE: 01-n7-9(109 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: II F
OBSERVATIONS
This was a follow up inspection of the Worthing Pit, DRMS File# M-1977-526 to check on the corrective
actions completed by the operator in regards to a previous inspection conducted on October 22nd, 2008. This
site is located approximately one half mile south west of the town of Brighton, Colorado in Adams County. I,
Jared Ebert of the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety conducted the inspection. No one from
the operation accompanied me on the site.
During the October 22nd inspection it was observed that the pit excavation appeared to be inside a portion of the
25 foot setback around the permit boundary near the Bud and Grace Scott property. It was cited as a problem in
that inspection report and the operator was required to backfill and grade the pit slopes to create the 25 foot
setback from the permit boundary on that portion of the property.
According to the operator there is some confusion as to where the property line is located along the Scotts
fence. They also claimed that the slopes near the Scotts property line was in that condition prior to when that
section of the permit boundary was incorporated into the mine site. In any case, it appears that the operator has
and is in the process of backfilling that portion of the permit boundary.
Using a measuring tape, it was determined that the operator has backfilled the former pit slope about 25 -30 feet
away from the Scotts fence line. Given the reclamation plan and the work that has been completed at the site,
the problem noted in the October inspection report is considered abated at this time.
2
