The
concurrance letters for SL-8 and SL-10 were mailed today and are attached. If our ecologist raises any concerns over the
revegetation data when he is able to conduct his review in late January / February 2009, we will need to address his
concerns at that time.
Thank you so much for all of your help and hard work. We have received
your proposed decisions for SL-8 and SL-10 and I'm sure SL-9 is on its way. Based on our inspections of the site, I am
prepared to issue our concurrance with your proposed decisions. However, for the Phase III release (SL-10), OSM's
ecologist must review and approve the vegetation sampling analysis. We have a new ecologist who is absolutely
wonderful, but overloaded with work. He came to us from BLM with use-or-lose vacation time. Add that to holidays,
work travel, and other projects that his supervisor has prioritized and it doesn't look too promising that I'll be able to
issue that concurrance letter until well past the 30-day comment period. I apologize in advance for the delay!
Christine Belka
Environmental Protection Specialist
OSMRE, Denver Field Division
(303) 293-5020
12/22/2008
